basic shape of the shell

This is the basic shape nearly done. I've used some rasps and sanding blocks to get it to this stage. Later I will use the milling machine to do some bits before I start shaping the side curves...

Train

Today I've started my main and final project for the completion of my degree, a three dimensional actualization of a futuristic train for Leslie Barany, H.R.Giger's agent. I am following the original design sketches and paintings that Leslie feeds me. I'm also greatly aided in the process of this model by CGI key frame shots which I was provided by a rendering company based in London, thanks to Les for authorizing me the request of such confidencial data!

The droid I will complete over the weekends and whenever I can get a gap from working on this train. The train is BY FAR my priority, though.

Progress

The arm is ready for casting a replica, to make the opposite side. 40DSCF0002.jpg

The eye fits pretty well on its head for now. 40DSCF0006.jpg

I used an off cut with the same radius as the optical eye, to avoid damaging the actual eye. Covered it with glossy tape to avoid the filler from sticking to it. 40DSCF0004.jpg

I have changed the neck for the 3rd time... after watching the movie I realized that the folded section was a lot shorter than I previously had before. 40DSCF0006_1.jpg
